Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7 (NIV)
February is the shortest month of the year which makes it quite unique. It’s also considered to be the month of love with stores overflowing with lots of items for Valentine’s Day. I therefore found it interesting that for this month my focus is God and more specifically God’s love as I’m not usually one to follow the crowd.
That said, I’m thoroughly enjoying this season as God shows His love to me in many different ways. The song, Reckless Love by Bethel Music, has also been on repeat a lot for me.
What God has really been impressing on me in this season is not just His love for me in the big stuff for example regarding my salvation which is amazing. The focus is in the small, seemingly insignificant events and circumstances in my life where He keeps showing up and blessing me. Then there are also the divine interruptions He puts in my day which teach me more about His love and help guide me towards His purpose.
When you experience God’s love, it requires a response, an action whether that may be responding to God through prayer and worship or sharing God’s love with others in different ways including offering encouragement or practical assistance. It’s been fun exploring what this looks like in my life.
Adding God’s Love to Year 29- Practically
- Learning to sacrifice- True love involves prioritising the needs of others over your own
- Be an encourager- This builds on my Hope post as to share hope is a form of encouragement
- Expect interruptions- Stop and ask God how He wants to use me when He allows interruptions in my schedule
How can you express God’s love in your life during this year?
